A free QR code generator. Fully offline.
Turn text, URLs, WiFi networks and contacts into QR codes, right from your menu bar. Everything is generated on your machine — nothing is uploaded, no account, no watermark, and your codes never expire. Save as SVG or copy as a PNG image.

Generate your QR code now
Type what you want to encode and download the code. It is generated in your browser, nothing is uploaded, no watermark.
Higher correction keeps the code readable when smudged or partly covered, at the cost of density.
100% local · no account, no watermark, never expires
Type it, scan it. That’s the whole flow.
Open the widget, paste a URL or type any text, and the QR code appears as you type. The encoder is bundled inside the widget, so generation happens entirely on your machine — no server, no upload, works with the WiFi off. When it looks right, save it as a print-ready SVG or copy it as a PNG image and paste it anywhere.
- Live preview — the code redraws as you type
- Save as SVG (scales to any size for print)
- Copy as a PNG image to the clipboard
- Pick the error-correction level: L, M, Q or H
Share your WiFi without spelling the password.
Switch to WiFi mode, type the network name and password, and you get a QR code guests can scan with their camera to connect — no typos, no reading a 16-character password out loud. It supports WPA/WPA2, WEP, open networks and hidden SSIDs, and the password is never saved or uploaded: it stays in memory, on your machine.
- WPA/WPA2, WEP or open networks — hidden SSIDs too
- The password never leaves your machine, and is never saved
- Print the SVG for the fridge, the office or the Airbnb
Your data shouldn’t take a round trip to a server.
Most QR websites generate the code on their servers — whatever you type travels there first, and many wrap your content in a redirect link that expires when the free trial does, or stamp a watermark on the “free” tier. This widget is the boring, honest version: a static QR generated locally. Your content goes into the code itself, so there’s nothing to expire, nothing to watermark and nothing to upload.
- Generated on your machine — works with no internet at all
- Static codes: no redirect link that can die on you
- Free forever — no trial, no watermark, no sign-up wall
Installed from the catalog, in one click.
QR Generator isn’t bundled into the app — it’s a widget in the Webstarted Toolbox catalog. Open the catalog tab (🧰), press the “+” next to QR Generator, and it drops into your menu bar. No reinstall, no app update. Here are a few of its neighbors:
Questions, answered.
Do I have to download anything separately?
No. QR Generator is a widget in the Webstarted Toolbox catalog. Open the catalog tab (🧰) inside the app, hit the “+” next to QR Generator, and it installs in one click — no separate download, and no app update needed.
Does it really work offline?
Yes — completely. The QR encoder is bundled inside the widget, so the code is generated on your machine with no network involved. What you type is never uploaded anywhere, and it keeps working with the WiFi off.
What can I turn into a QR code?
Three modes: free text or a URL, a WiFi network (so guests connect by scanning) and a contact card (vCard with name, phone, email and organization) that phones save straight to their address book.
Do my QR codes expire or carry a watermark?
Never. These are static QR codes: the data lives inside the code itself, not behind a redirect link on someone’s server. There’s no server to shut down, no trial that runs out, no watermark stamped on your code — print it once and it works forever.
How do I export the code?
Two ways: save it as a crisp, infinitely scalable SVG file (great for print), or copy it as a PNG image straight to your clipboard and paste it into any chat or document. You can also pick the error-correction level (L, M, Q or H).
Is anything I type saved or sent anywhere?
Nothing is sent — generation is fully local. And in the WiFi and contact modes the fields (including the WiFi password) live only in memory: they’re never even written to disk.
